Marvel’s Logan writer will pen the script for long-rumoured BioShock movie

After years of cancellations and development Hell, the Bioshock movie is finally happening. It seems that the Bioshock movie is in good hands, as the writer of Logan will be working on the script.

Since Bioshock is a game known for its great writing, it’s good to know that a great writer will be adapting it. Will the upcoming Bioshock movie be half as good as Logan? Or will this just be another mediocre video game adaptation?

Can the writer of Logan make Bioshock a success?

Deadline confirmed that Michael Green of Logan and Blade Runner 2049 fame will be penning the Bioshock script. Both Logan and Blade Runner are excellent movies, so having Green work on the Bioshock film ups its chances of success.

It’s also worth noting that Michael Green also wrote the poorly-received Green Lantern film but that shouldn’t deter fans. Jungle Cruise was a script that Michael Green worked on too and that ended up being a fun adventure movie.

Bioshock definitely fits the more serious style of Michael Green, if Logan and Blade Runner 2049 are anything to go by. Let’s hope we get that kind of script from the writer and not Green Lantern.

Who is directing Bioshock?

A movie’s director is just as important as its writer, so Bioshock fans will be happy to know that Francis Lawrence is helming the movie. For those unaware, Lawrence directed a good number of the Hunger Games movies, including the two-part finale Mockingjay, so someone talented is directing Bioshock.

Considering the legacy Bioshock has, which extends to its sequels Bioshock 2 and Bioshock Infinite, it’s good seeing talented people work on it. Let’s hope they make the movie a success and continue the trend of good video game films that started with Pokemon: Detective Pikachu.

No release date for the Bioshock movie has been announced. In the meantime, fans can pick up the Bioshock Collection on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
