Spider-Man: Homecoming is a beloved MCU movie, but it’s also infamous for confusing the MCU timeline. Homecoming infamously claims the first Avengers and Homecoming are 10 years apart, causing many jokes and memes were made. With this in mind, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Marvel has hired an official MCU timeline keeper.
Considering the sheer size of the MCU it makes all the sense in the world to have a timeline keeper who keeps everything in place. It’s definitely not an easy job to have, especially now that the multiverse is going to be playing a major part in Phase Five.
Everything goes through the MCU timeline keeper
Talking with The Direct, She-Hulk head writer and producer Jessica Gao confirmed that they consulted an MCU timeline keeper when creating the series. Gao knew that She-Hulk would take place after Avengers: Endgame but the MCU timeline keeper makes sure everything makes sense.
“It’s definitely after– post-Endgame. There actually is a Marvel person whose job it is to trace the timeline of everything,” reveals Gao. “And we checked with him a lot about where the timing is. And so it’s like… the show is a few years after Endgame."
Most Marvel fans won’t be surprised that there’s an MCU timeline keeper since there are just so many movies and shows set in that universe. We’re honestly more surprised that the MCU timeline keeper isn’t Kevin Feige, though the Marvel head is likely involved somehow.

There’s an MCU timeline scroll in Marvel Studios
As if Jessica Gao’s comments about an MCU timeline keeper weren’t interesting enough, Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts made similar comments before. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Watts revealed that there’s an “actual scroll” that details how the MCU came to be.
“There’s an actual scroll that they unrolled for me… one of my producers, Eric Carroll, it was his first job at Marvel to work on a timeline and see where things line up and see where things didn’t quite line up,” explains Watts. “Like, ‘Oh, that’s when Captain America is born.'”
Now we’re wondering how long this MCU timeline scroll is and if they will be selling it one of these days. You know that diehard MCU fans would go crazy over one.
