Apple's upcoming cheaper version of the Vision Pro will be powered by an iPhone processor instead of the M2 chip found in the original Vision Pro. The affordable headset will also ditch the external screen present in its standard counterpart.

As reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, this version of the Apple Vision Pro will have fewer external cameras and sensors than the regular model. Also, it will employ lower-resolution displays in an effort to reduce its overall cost.

The internally discussed cost for the budget-friendly iteration of the Apple Vision Pro falls within the range of $1,500 to $2,500. Even at this range, it may still not be considered "affordable" for the majority of consumers.

Regarding the release date, Mark Gurman suggests that the more affordable version of the Apple Vision Pro is expected to become available "as soon as 2024 or in early 2025." Meanwhile, the OG Apple Vision Pro is on track to launch in early 2024.
