However, users who don't make videos on TikTok experience the same problem as well. This means that it is not completely the TikTok Drafts that are responsible for the space consumption, but rather bad app design.

How To Reduce TikTok Storage On Your Phone

The more you use TikTok, the more storage it consumes. The app likely downloads the videos you watch in the past 7 days and then stores them as app data when they are supposed to be cached and deleted later. This watch history bug is being addressed by the TikTok devs.

In the meantime, you can try a hack that we discovered to help you free up space on your phone.

Clear your watch history and uninstall the app

Although clearing your cache and deleting your TikTok drafts free space, the amount of space you gain is quite small. If you want to free up a significant amount of space on your phone, you should clear your watch history and then uninstall the app. To do that:

  • On your TikTok profile, tap the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner of the screen.
  • Tap Settings and privacy.
  • Under the Content & Activity section, tap Watch history.
  • Tap Clear history at the bottom of the screen.
  • Finally, uninstall the TikTok app.

Afterwards, you can re-install the TikTok app and log in to your account. This hack has worked for many people and freed over 90% of the storage space consumed by the TikTok app. We hope it helps you too!

We should warn you that all the videos in your Drafts will be lost when you delete the app. So if you don’t want to lose any of your TikTok Drafts, we recommend that you don't uninstall the app. You can wait until TikTok fixes the issue with a new update.
