Is there an Apple TV+ app on PS4? Here's everything you need to know

Apple TV+ – the tech giant's subscription streaming service – is going great guns at the minute. It has gathered an impressive collection of high-profile talent, both in front of and behind the camera, to create well-received original content – from the Jennifer Aniston/Reese Witherspoon-starring The Morning Show and the M Night Shyamalan-produced Servant to movies like the Tom Hanks WW2 epic Greyhound and Sofia Coppola's latest comedy, On The Rocks.

All of this content is available through the Apple TV app, which is available on several different platforms and allows Apple TV+ subscribers to watch shows and movies on non-Apple devices, too.

Not only that, but the app also lets you stream movies and shows that you've previously purchased digitally on the iTunes store, as well as buy and rent new ones. That means you can log in on various third-party devices – including smart TVs, Roku players and Amazon's Fire TV devices – and still have access to your own personal digital movie library. As a bonus, the app also curates content from other streaming services, such as BBC iPlayer, too.

Basically, thanks to the app, you can enjoy all the benefits of Apple's digital film and TV services without having to own any actual Apple hardware, which, as we all know, can be on the pricey side. Is the Apple TV app available to download on the PlayStation 4, though? Read on to find out…

Is there an Apple TV+ app on PS4?

Currently, the Apple TV app isn't available on the PS4. However, the tech company has stated that Apple TV+ will be heading to more devices in the future.

In a press release earlier in 2020, Apple said that its TV app will be "available on Sony…smart TVs later this year". Suffice to say, it's highly likely that it will also reach the PS4 – and PS5 – at some point. Unfortunately for Apple and Playstation fans, though, there's no concrete release date just yet.

However, as we mentioned earlier, you don't have to own expensive Apple hardware to enjoy Apple TV+. The PS4 might be a no-go for now, but there are lots of third-party devices that do support the app. These include all of the available Amazon Fire TV devices and Roku streaming players.

The app is also supported on most Samsung smart TVs manufactured or released from 2018 onwards, as well as several recent models of LG smart TVs. It's also available via a web browser on PCs and Android devices.
