In the recent past, there have been a number of rumours that have come out regarding Apple and its plans for the future. It is now being said that the tech giant is working on Metaverse.

This is certainly interesting because the Metaverse is one of the trending concepts right now and already big companies like Meta, Microsoft and NVIDIA are working on their own versions. So, it's only logical that Apple would be looking into this as well.

In this article, we are going to discuss whether or not Apple has a Metaverse and is Apple working on it.

Is Apple Working on Metaverse?

Apple has been one of the most secretive companies in the tech industry.  With this being said, a lot of things that are being said are actually just speculation.

However, Apple planning to work on the Metaverse is no longer a speculation. It has now been confirmed by Apple CEO Tim Cook himself.

Cook told investors that "we see a lot of potential in this space (Metaverse) and are investing accordingly," during the company's earnings call for the first quarter of 2022. 

He also mentioned that company is always exploring new and emerging technologies and Metaverse is an area that is very interesting to the folks at Apple.

To conclude, Apple is planning to work on Metaverse and is probably doing the necessary research to make it happen.

What is Apple Metaverse?

So, now we know that Apple is planning to work on the Metaverse. But, what exactly is Apple Metaverse? What would it be like?

To be clear, as of now, Apple doesn't have a Metaverse.

We are sure that you must have heard of the term Metaverse before. If you haven't, then here is a brief definition.

"The Metaverse is a massive, interconnected network of virtual spaces, that uses Virtual Reality, or Augmented Reality as we know it now, to immerse users in an alternate world."

While Meta's Metaverse utilizes virtual reality, Apple's Metaverse will use Augmented Reality. In fact, Apple is reportedly planning to launch its first AR/VR headset product this year for that purpose, probably.

Currently, there are 14,000 ARKit apps on the App Store. Some of them are extremely popular and are being used by millions of people all over the world. According to Tim Cook, the company is planning to invest more in that space.

So, it's pretty clear that Apple's main focus is on Augmented Realityand expanding its AR/VR ecosystem. Besides that, the company is focusing on gaming, communication, and content consumption as well.
